    IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE UNITED STATES


    March 13, 2024


    Mr. Domingo introduced the following Bill:


    A BILL


    to provide legal recognition to the rank of General Steve McQueen, .



    Be it enacted by the House of Representatives and the Senate and of the United States of Astor in Congress assembled:


    SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE.

    Dieses Bundesgesetz soll als „An Act for the relief of General Steve McQueen“ zitiert werden.


    SECTION 2. ADJUSTMENT OF RANK OF GENERAL MCQUEEN.


    (1) General Steve McQueen, USMC, soll mit Wirkung vom 27. Oktober 2023 den Rang eines General of the U.S. Armed Forces (5 Stars) innehaben und diesen auch nach seiner Versetzung in den Ruhestand am 20. Februar 2024, die als ehrenhaft einzustufen ist, nach den allgemeinen Vorschriften für Offiziere im Ruhestand fortzuführen berechtigt sein.

    (2) Seine Verwendung soll als General of the U.S. Armed Forces und ohne Berücksichtigung seines Einsatzes als "Supreme Commander of the U.S. Armed Forces" auf Anordnung des Präsidenten der Vereinigten Staaten geführt werden.

    (3) Vorschriften des Bundesrechts, nach denen der Rang eines Fünfsternegenerals nicht in Betracht kommt, sind unbeachtlich.


    SECTION 3. FINAL PROVISIONS.

    (1) Dieses Bundesgesetz tritt nach den verfassungsrechtlichen Vorschriften als One-Shot Act in Kraft.

    McQueen mochte in einigen öffentlichen Äußerungen ein verweichlichter Typ sein, aber er hatte seine unbestreitbaren Verdienste erworben, die im Sinne des Militärs anzuerkennen waren. 2 Representatives wollen dagegen ein Zeichen gegen die Person setzen und lehnen die Bill ab.
