    Es ist inakzeptabel, mit welcher Behäbigkeit die House Democrats unser knappes Wahlergebnis aus den Midterms momentan in den Sand setzen. Die Wählerinnen und Wähler erwarten von meinen Parteifreunden, dass sie die Untätigkeit der Administration vor allem beim Wiederaufbau anprangern und beenden - als Governor of Astoria erwarte ich das auch!

    Die Hedgehog Democrats im U.S. House, allen voran Mike Ellis jr. sollten sich schämen, durch ihr Fernbleiben von der Speaker-Wahl die demokratische Mehrheit sabotiert zu haben. In der Vergangenheit war unstreitig, dass die Democrats United in Diversity sind und dass wir trotz aller Unterschiede geschlossen stehen, wenn es darauf ankommt. Offenbar endete diese Einigkeit nun!

    With all due respect to General Steve McQueen, it's good to see that at least some of our leaders in Congress stand up against rubber-stamping the overreach by President Kendrith Sun during our nation's recent crisis.

    Laws need to be followed, not simply changed retrospectively without meaningful due diligence. Thank you, Squirrels!

  • Midterm Elections November 2023

    Ich freue mich sehr, dass die Wählerinnen und Wähler im State of Astoria sich für eine konstruktive demokratische Mehrheit entschieden haben. Bis zu den nächsten Wahlen werden wir daran arbeiten müssen, noch entschiedener gegen die kriegsbedingte Popularität der Republicans antreten zu können. Deswegen ist es mein Ziel, meine Administration in den nächsten Tagen breiter aufzustellen, ohne dabei die progressive Grundhaltung aufzugeben.

    Nachdem die Common Assembly in der Nacht die lang erwartete Bill endlich verabschiedet hatte, unterzeichnet sie diese nun am frühen Nachmittag eilig und erklärt in diesem Zusammenhang den anwesenden Pressevertretern, dass sie das neue Verfahren noch am heutigen Tage zu nutzen gedenke. Kritik am Gesetzgebungsverfahren weist sie - wie auch schon die Demokraten in der Assembly - mit Hinweis auf die andauernde Notlage zurück.

    WHEREAS a Bill has been passed in the Common Assembly of the State of Astoria,
    AND WHEREAS the said Bill was then received by the Governor on the 15th day of November 2023 to be signed and thereby made Law as provided for in the Constitution of the State of Astoria,


    NOW THEREFORE I, KATHLEEN T. JOHNSON, GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF ASTORIA, ISSUE THIS CERTIFICATE:

    Vacancy in the U.S. Senate Bill
    An Act to provide for the filling of a Vacancy in the Office of the U.S. Senator for Astoria under Article III Section 4 Subsection 5 of the Constitution of the United States.


    Section 1 - Vacancy to be filled by the Governor; Assembly Consent waived

    (1) Wenn eine Vakanz des Sitzes des U.S. Senator for Astoria eintritt, hat der Governor of Astoria das Recht, einen neuen U.S. Senator zu ernennen.
    (2) Die Ernennung nach Ssc. 1 bedarf nicht der Zustimmung der Assembly of Senators oder einer anderen Stelle.


    Section 2 - Conditions of filling the Vacancy

    (1) Die Ernennung nach Section 1 soll die andere, von der gesetzgebenden Körperschaft des betroffenen Staates vorgesehenen Weise zur Nachbesetzung des Sitzes im U.S. Senate sein und damit für den verbliebenen Rest der Wahlperiode endgültig sein.

    (2) Die Ernennung erfolgt unter Ausschluss sämtlicher anderer Vorgaben des Staats- und Bundesrechts, soweit diese nicht zwingend sind.


    Section 3 - Coming-into force
    (1) Dieses Gesetz tritt entsprechend der verfassungsrechtlichen Vorgaben in Kraft. Zugleich ist der Popular Senatorial By-Election Act vom 27. October 2018 aufgehoben.

    (2) Die Bestimmungen dieses Gesetzes sollen auf jede Vakanz Anwendung finden, die nach dem Inkrafttreten dieses Gesetzes eintritt oder zum Zeitpunkt des Inkrafttretens andauert. Insbesondere sollen keine Wahlgänge mehr für die Nachwahl eines U.S. Senator durchgeführt werden, auch wenn diese nach den bisherigen gesetzlichen Bestimmungen ausgeschrieben waren oder zu einem anderen Zeitpunkt noch hätten durchgeführt werden müssen.

    Wenn Sie keine Ahnung haben, Martin Ford , sollten Sie vielleicht besser schweigen. Die Abschiebung krimineller Ausländer wird durch diesen Vorschlag nicht unmöglich gemacht, sondern in das Aufenthaltsrecht verlagert, wo sie hingehört. Sie ist keine Strafe, sondern soll dem Schutz der Vereinigten Staaten dienen. Auch Ausländer können Teil unserer Gemeinschaft geworden sein und damit wir für ihre Taten mitverantwortlich, denn Kriminalität ist überwiegend ein soziales Problem.

    Today, the U.S. Senate made a great step towards better Justice for woman as well as against racial prejudice in our laws by passing S. 2020-027 Prosecution of Stalking Bill and S. 2020-030 Criminal justice for individual sentences and alien criminal reform Bill. Ich bin enttäuscht, Senator Ulysses Knight nicht für seine wichtige Initiative gratulieren zu können, weil er sich in anderer Sache immer noch zu gerne in seinen rechten Altherrenkreisen bewegen möchte.
