    The Congresswoman from Port Virginia Beach, Mrs. Cunningham, has introduced a Joint resolution, which is referred to the House for considerations.

    The sponsor may rise with the privilege of the first word.

    An amount of 4 hours of floor time is reserved for debate. This can be reduced or increased according to the Standing Rules if necessary.

    IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE UNITED STATES

    April 13, 2025

    Ms. CUNNINGHAM introduced the following resolution:

    A JOINT RESOLUTION

    providing for a Joint Session of Congress to receive a communication by the President.


    Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of Astor in Congress assembled:[ul]

    Das Repräsentantenhaus und der Senat der Vereinigten Staaten kommen am 17. April 2025 um 12 Uhr zu einer gemeinsamen Sitzung im gemeinsamen Plenarsaal des Kapitols zusammen, um der Ansprache der Präsidentin der Vereinigten Staaten zur Lage der Nation beizuwohnen. Hierfür wird dieser das Rederecht vor dem Kongress gewährt.[/ul]

    Mister Speaker,

    neben dem Umstand, dass es eine gesetzliche Verpflichtung darstellt, ist es darüber hinaus gepflegte Tradition und ein solides Zeichen der Checks & Balances, dass eine Präsidentin der Vereinigten Staaten regelmäßig zur Lage der Nation vor dieses Hohe Haus tritt und berichtet.

    President Arroyo hat diesbezüglich darum gebeten vor dem Kongress sprechen zu dürfen. Ich beantrage ihr dies zu gewähren.
