IN THE SENATE OF THE UNITED STATES

October 1, 2021

Mrs. SHORE (for herself and Mr. BURRY) introduced the following bill:

A BILL

to create a sensible path to citizenship.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of Astor in Congress assembled:

SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE.

(1) Dieses Bundesgesetz soll als „Sensible Path to Citizenship Act“ zitiert werden.

SECTION 2. AMENDING THE U. S. CITIZENSHIP ACT.

(1) Die Auflistung in Sec. 5 des United States Citizenship Act wird zu Abs. 1 der Section.

(2) Sec. 5 Abs. 1 wird folgender Punkt 3 angefügt: „4. dem Antragsteller in den letzten 14 Tagen ein Antrag auf Einbürgerung verweigert worden ist.“

(3) Sec. 5 wird folgender Abs. 2 angefügt: „(2) Entgegen Abs. 1 lit. 2 ist dem Antrag auf Einbürgerung stattzugeben, wenn der Antragsteller an Eides statt erklärt hat, auf entgegenstehende Staatsbürgerschaften binnen 14 Tagen nach Einbürgerung zu verzichten. Die Einbürgerung ist in diesen Fällen unter der Bedingung, dass die Erklärung des Verzichts innerhalb dieser Frist für alle entsprechenden Staatsbürgerschaften nachgewiesen wird, vorzunehmen. Erbringt der Antragsteller diesen Nachweis nicht, ist dies sowie der Verlust der Staatsbürgerschaft der Vereinigten Staaten von Amts wegen festzustellen.“

SECTION 3. FINAL AND PROVISIONAL PROVISIONS.

(1) Dieses Bundesgesetz tritt mit seiner Kundmachung in Kraft und findet Anwendung auf all jene Anträge zur Einbürgerung, die ab dem 1. Juli 2021 eingebracht worden sind.
