    Mystery, Thriller, Coming-of-Age - youth & young adults (16+)

    The small town of Alderwood, hidden deep within the forests of Rosecrans, has always been surrounded by whispers of the past. The abandoned courthouse at its heart has stood untouched for decades—until now. When a group of friends—Noah, Liv, Ben, Riley, and Cass—decide to test their courage one night, they venture onto the eerie courthouse grounds. What starts as a harmless dare takes a chilling turn when they stumble upon something that was never meant to be found. A hidden trapdoor. A disturbing noise in the dark. And a growing feeling that they are not alone. What they don’t realize is that their curiosity has set something in motion. Something that has been waiting to resurface for twenty years. As they struggle to make sense of what they encountered that night, strange things begin to happen. Secrets emerge. Shadows from the past return. And soon, the group realizes—some doors should never be opened.

    SEASON 1, EP. 1 - THE DARE

    Handlung

    SCENE 1 – INTRO: THE LEGEND OF ALDERWOOD

    Darkness. A voice narrates over eerie visuals of the abandoned courthouse, now overgrown and decayed.

    NARRATOR: "Alderwood was once a town like any other. Until twenty years ago, when something happened at the courthouse. A tragedy so dark that people stopped speaking about it. Some say the spirits of the lost still wander the halls… waiting. Others say that the truth is buried—hidden beneath the ground, never to be uncovered."

    Handlung

    A sudden flash of movement. A shadow darts across the courthouse ruins. A scream echoes. Then—silence.

    CUT TO BLACK. INTRO MUSIC.

    SCENE 2 – ESTABLISHING THE GROUP

    Present day. Late afternoon. The sun sets over Alderwood High School. A group of teenagers—Noah, Liv, Ben, Riley, and Cass—sit on the school bleachers, discussing their weekend plans.

    LIV:
    "Okay, so who's in for the challenge?"


    RILEY (grinning):

    "You mean the ‘break-into-a-haunted-courthouse’ challenge?
    Hell yeah."



    CASS (rolling eyes):

    "We’re literally living in a horror cliché."


    BEN (teasing):
    "What’s wrong, Cass? Afraid of ghosts?"


    CASS (flatly):
    "No, just idiots who think getting arrested is a fun Friday night."


    NOAH (hesitant):
    "Maybe we should just... I don’t know, go to the diner instead?"



    BEN (teasing, nudging Noah lightly):

    "Come on, Noah. I didn’t take you for the scaredy-cat type."


    NOAH (faking a scoff, looking away):
    "I’m not scared. I just think it’s a dumb idea."



    BEN (grinning, leaning in slightly):

    "Uh-huh. Sure you’re not."


    Handlung

    For a brief second, their eyes meet. The teasing edge in Ben’s voice fades, replaced by something softer, almost searching. Noah swallows and quickly looks away, his fingers curling slightly against his knee. Ben hesitates, as if wanting to say something more, but Liv speaks up before he can.


    LIV (nudging him playfully):
    "Come on, Noah. Where’s your sense of adventure?"

    The group laughs, except for Noah, who forces a smile.

    SCENE 3 – THE COURTHOUSE DARE

    Nightfall. The group approaches the old courthouse, flashlights cutting through the darkness. The air is thick with silence.



    CASS (whispering):
    "Bad idea. Bad idea. Bad idea."


    BEN (grinning):
    "Too late to back out now."


    Handlung

    They step onto the overgrown yard. Riley dares Ben to go inside first. He smirks and pushes the old door open—it groans loudly. They step inside, dust swirling in the air.



    LIV (whispering):
    "This place is creepy as hell."


    Handlung

    As they explore, Cass finds something—a trapdoor in the floor, covered in dust and partially wedged shut.


    NOAH (tense):

    "What the hell is that?"


    Handlung

    Ben kneels and brushes off the dirt.



    BEN (smirking):
    "Only one way to find out."


    Handlung

    He grips the edge, ready to pull it open—when suddenly, a loud BANG echoes through the courthouse. The group freezes.



    RILEY (whispers):

    "What was that?"


    Handlung

    Another sound—footsteps, coming from above. Then—silence.



    LIV (breathless):
    "Someone’s here."


    CASS (urgent):
    "We need to go. NOW."


    Handlung

    They run. Out the door, through the yard, breath heavy. Noah glances back—just for a second. He swears he sees a figure watching them from the courthouse window.

    SCENE 4 – THE MORNING AFTER

    Morning light. The school is buzzing with energy. Noah arrives, visibly shaken. Liv greets him, but before they can talk, sirens wail in the distance.

    Cut to the courthouse. Police tape now surrounds the area. Officers move frantically. Students gather at the edge, whispering.


    CASS (horrified whisper):
    "Oh my God…"


    NOAH (shaking, stepping closer, his breath uneven, a deep weight settling on his chest):
    "No... no, no, no…"


    Handlung

    FADE TO BLACK.

    TO BE CONTINUED…INTRO MUSIC.
