After much reflection, I’ve decided not to seek re-election to the House of Representatives in the upcoming General Elections.

Serving you in Congress has been the honor of my lifetime. I am deeply grateful for the trust, the support, and the encouragement I’ve received from the people of Freeland, my colleagues, and the Democratic Party over the years. Together, we’ve worked to protect opportunity, strengthen our communities, and uphold the values that make our Republic strong.

Now, I feel called to serve my home state in a new way. I will be running for the Regional Assembly of Region VIII – Saint Francis Range, with the goal of continuing my public service in the Grand Convocation of Freeland.

Freeland shaped who I am. Its people, its landscapes, and its spirit of civic responsibility have always guided my work. I’m excited to bring my experience home, listen to local voices even more closely, and help shape the future of our state from the ground up.

I am humbled by the possibility of one day being considered by my party to follow in the footsteps of our outstanding First Convenor, Emily Parker. That responsibility, if it comes, will be met with the same dedication and integrity that have defined my time in Congress.

Thank you, Freeland. Thank you for believing in me.
The next chapter begins – and I couldn’t be more grateful to walk it with you.

Après mûre réflexion, j’ai décidé de ne pas me représenter à la Chambre des représentants lors des prochaines élections générales.

Servir les citoyennes et citoyens de Freeland au Congrès a été le plus grand honneur de ma vie. Je suis profondément reconnaissante pour la confiance, le soutien et l’encouragement que j’ai reçus de la part des électeurs, de mes collègues et du Parti démocrate tout au long de ces années. Ensemble, nous avons défendu l’égalité des chances, renforcé nos communautés et protégé les valeurs qui font la force de notre République.

Aujourd’hui, je souhaite servir mon État d’origine d’une nouvelle manière. Je serai candidate à l’Assemblée régionale de la Région VIII – Chaîne de Saint Francis, avec l’objectif de poursuivre mon engagement au sein de la Grande Convocation de Freeland.

Freeland m’a façonnée. Ses habitants, ses paysages et son sens profond de la responsabilité civique ont toujours guidé mon action politique. Je me réjouis de pouvoir mettre mon expérience au service de ma communauté locale, d’écouter encore davantage les voix du terrain et de contribuer à l’avenir de notre État.

Je serais honorée, le moment venu, d’être considérée par mon parti pour succéder à notre remarquable Première Convenor, Emily Parker. Cette responsabilité, si elle m’est confiée, sera assumée avec le même engagement et la même intégrité qui ont marqué mon mandat au Congrès.

Un nouveau chapitre commence – et je suis fière de l’écrire à vos côtés.

Je suis fier d’annoncer aujourd’hui mon soutien total à Virginia Meyers dans son parcours vers la fonction de Première Convenor.

Virginia a toujours défendu les valeurs qui font la force de notre État : la solidarité, la justice sociale, le respect du travail et l’ancrage dans nos communautés locales. Son engagement, son intégrité et sa proximité avec les citoyennes et citoyens font d’elle une candidate naturelle pour guider Freeland vers l’avenir.

En parallèle, j’ai pris la décision de me porter candidat à la Chambre des représentants afin de continuer à servir notre État au niveau fédéral. Après mon expérience au sein de l’administration Arroyo, je souhaite mettre mon énergie et mon expertise au service des familles, des travailleurs et des régions rurales de Freeland.

Notre État mérite une voix forte à D.C. – et un leadership responsable à domicile.
Je suis convaincu qu’ensemble, nous pouvons y parvenir.

Today, I am proud to officially endorse Virginia Meyers in her path toward becoming First Convenor of Freeland.

Virginia has always stood for the values that define our state: solidarity, social justice, respect for working families, and strong local communities. Her integrity, dedication, and connection to the people make her the right leader to guide Freeland into the future.

At the same time, I am announcing my own candidacy for the House of Representatives. After serving in the Arroyo Administration, I am ready to bring my experience back to D.C. and continue fighting for the workers, families, and rural regions of Freeland.

Our state deserves strong leadership at home – and a powerful voice in the capital.
Together, we can deliver both.

Let’s move Freeland forward.

June 25 reminds us that freedom was never guaranteed — it was earned by courage, sacrifice, and an unwavering belief in the promise of this Republic. As we approach Independence Day, let us remember what unites us as Astorians: liberty, responsibility, and love of country.

Wir dürfen uns nicht von den Futunen vor der Welt zum Affen machen und uns den Schwarzen Peter "Western Islands" zuschieben lassen. Humanitäre Hilfe ja, aber Astor ist Astor und die Western Islands sind kein Teil davon. Wir können es uns nicht leisten, die Wirtschaft durch die Aufnahme der WI in unseren Wirtschaftsraum zu schwächen und verarmte West-Islander in unsere Städte zu lassen. Stark bleiben.

Astor has chosen hope over exhaustion, unity over division, and responsibility over fear. I am deeply grateful for the trust placed in Kathleen Johnson and me. Now the work begins — for every state, every family, and every citizen of this Union.

This was not the result we fought for, but millions of Astorians placed their faith in our ticket — and that trust will not be forgotten. I congratulate Governor Johnson and Senator Elizabeth Thorndike. Our cause continues: strong states, free citizens, and a Union worthy of them.
